APEC OPEN STUDIOS Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 May

The Studio.

When the Romanian-born sculptor Brancusi died in 1957 he bequeathed his art to France, where he had spent his working life, on condition it be shown only within the context of his studio. Taking the studio as a starting point, APEC artists offer some points for reflection upon the studio itself. An imaginative site, hotly contested, it is so much more than just a place to make work, offering an economy of exchange different from the prevailing system’s.

Days open: 18th,19th May 2013

Opening hours: 12.00 – 17.00

Additional days: Private View 18:00-20:00 on Friday 17 May 2013

Invisible imprint

Can you describe a photograph that doesn’t exist but is imprinted in your mind?
Is there a photograph you wish you had taken or one that got lost or destroyed before it was developed or printed?

As part of the Photo Fringe event at the Studios 19 – 21 October 2012 Lindsey Smith will be collecting descriptions of remembered photographs that don’t exist.

Photograph simply means drawing with light yet our associations with the medium extend far beyond this definition.  In this exhibition the artists at APEC Studios investigate the photographic and its relationship to the real.
